The Centrist Project seeks a full-time “Colorado Political Director” to help recruit and elect candidates in an innovative effort to bridge the growing partisan divide in politics.

The Colorado Political Director is someone comfortable operating in a fast-paced and open-ended startup environment, capable of strategic planning and detailed execution across various functions, and committed to working at maximum capacity to help us achieve our ambitious goals.  

This role will include executing candidate recruitment in key target districts across the state, preparing candidates to launch their campaigns and building a network of professionals to support 2018 races across digital, communications, grassroots organization, fundraising, and  compliance.

The Colorado Political Director will be based in Denver, Colorado and report to the Executive Director.  This is a full time role. Pay will be commensurate with experience.


  • Conduct outreach and follow-up to prospective Colorado state legislative candidates

  • Track political developments at the statewide and district level to inform where the organization is prioritizing candidate recruitment, fundraising and grassroots resources

  • Facilitate meetings between potential candidates and key stakeholders including executive leadership, Colorado steering committee members and in-state donors

  • Cultivate an in state network of operatives and vendors who can support independent campaigns once they are launched

  • Organize workshops for candidates to train them on key campaign components

  • Support Finance Director in building a network for our small donor committee

  • Potentially support misc. in-state grassroots, digital, and media operations


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion for American democracy and political reform

  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong work ethic

  • Experience working on multiple political campaigns, with a preference for Colorado and/or state legislative races

  • Desire to be creative and to experiment

  • Ability to be a proactive strategic partner while executing both large and small tasks from conception through completion

  • At least three years of professional work experience.
