I am a 38 year old politico. I have been in love with politics from the time I read the Constitution for the first time when I was 11 years old. That love for politics pushed me to pursue a Political Science degree here in Washington D.C. back in the late 90s. I always felt that one day I would run for office. However, I have found myself without a political party. For the first time in years, I have become excited about politics. I thank the Centrist Project for that. I truly believe that our Centrist candidates can create that much needed change in our political system.
Today, our political environment is way to partisan. It is time for a voice of reason. I think strong Centrist candidates can be that voice of reason and truly represent the people and bring the two parties together and start solving the problems that face every U.S. citizen.
I am passionate about issues facing Generation X, Y, and Z. For example, student loan debt. Most of the politicians representing us are of the Baby Boom generations. They have no idea what it is like being a recent graduate from college with $100 in debt with student loans. Many of them haven't paid a student loan before. There solutions are not working. They are not creating jobs for this generation and more and more of the members of this generation are having to move in with their parents just to get by. It is a fact that this generation is not as well off as the generation before it. This is a problem. We need more candidates from the new generation of U.S. Citizens to bring in new experiences and new ideas.
Being that voice of reason in the middle will cause the no party to have a single majority and have to work together. But, it also gives the power to the Centrist. Both parties will have to come to them to get things done.
Now is the time for change. Our political system is broken. I believe that strong Centrist candidates can fix it.
