Tell us about yourself: who you are, where you're from, etc.

I'm an investment advisor and financial planner in Chicago.

What does being a "Centrist" mean to you, and why did you get involved?

Being a centrist involves taking the risk of urging our fellow citizens to support policy actions that the overwhelming majority of Americans believe in, including sensible regulation of firearms, social safety nets that help deserving people get past crises without creating dependencies, and improve education so it produces people who can succeed in a changing world and recognize themselves as fellow citizens.

I got involved after hearing about Charlie Wheelen's book The Centrist Manifesto. I bought it, read it, shared it, and believe its arguments.

What is a policy issue you are passionate about and why?

The correlation between crime and poverty. We can't de-fund antipoverty efforts and expect public school teachers and local police officers to solve the social disfunction that results from poverty.

How do you think we can unite our country and fix our politics?

By putting together one or two policy successes that are passed by bipartisan action, and highlighting that such action is still possible.

Anything else you'd like to add?

It's easy to complain and criticize; what are you prepared to actually do?
