Tell us about yourself: who you are, where you're from, etc.

Content marketing professional with a renewed interest in helping to fix what appears to be a broken political system – and closing the widening gap between so many extremes. Born in West Virginia, two decades in Illinois, and now settled in northern California. Husband, and father to one child and three animals.

What does being a "Centrist" mean to you, and why did you get involved?

Centrist means standing in the middle and evaluating each issue on its own merit, versus aligning blindly with the right or the left. Even before the election in 2016 I noticed an increasing tendency for nearly everyone to be reactive, move to an extreme position, then paint their perceived adversaries with a very broad, and caustic brush.

What is a policy issue you are passionate about and why?

Social tolerance. Treating everyone with respect and equitably – regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, income level and so on.

How do you think we can unite our country and fix our politics?

Find a way to have productive, honest, and respectful conversations – even though we may not agree with each other. Ensure our government truly represents the best interests of the people, not of the politicians, lobbyists and special interest groups, or the systems in which they operate.
