TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.

I'm a structural engineer in Kansas City, Missouri. I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2014 with an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. I would describe myself as a free thinker.

WHAT DOES BEING A "CENTRIST" MEAN TO YOU, AND WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED?

The fundamental characteristic of being a Centrist is approaching every issue with ideas and arguments that are your own. Current political ideologies and partisanship rob constituents of their individuality. Thinking for yourself, as opposed to having your ideals and opinions predetermined for you based on your political affiliation, is what makes a democracy a true democracy. A truly open and free country has a plurality of ideas and opinions, not just two.

WHAT IS A POLICY ISSUE YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT AND WHY?

I'm most passionate about climate change and renewable energy. We need to become more energy independent or else we will end up being left in the dark ages as other countries progress technologically. Renewable energy is the inevitable future of the world, and the sooner we wake up to this fact, the better off we will be. There are MAJOR benefits to be had by investing in renewable energy: the possibility of halting or reversing climate change, creation of new and sustainable jobs, independence, infrastructure efficiency, etc.

HOW DO YOU THINK WE CAN UNITE OUR COUNTRY AND FIX POLITICS?

Take a rational and pragmatic approach to issues. Get Americans thinking for themselves, not having opinions and ideas handed to them. Political ideologies make it such that citizens do not actually engage themselves in conversations about real issues. Free speech must take precedent over everything else because it is the only way to propagate good ideas and criticize bad ideas without the use of violence.
