Three people show up to recite the pledge of allegiance.
“I pledge allegiance, to the flag …
with liberty and justice for all.”
But they fall out of sync at the end. The progressive wears a stylish patch over her left eye, so all she can see is “justice for all”. The conservative wears a patch with a flag on it over his right eye, so all he sees is “liberty”. They both mumble over the parts they can’t see. Only the centrist has both eyes open and can see what the pledge is really about.
On everything from healthcare to trade, our politicians are too committed to partisan ideologies that overly simplify the issues, making them blind in one eye or the other. The mission of the Temecula chapter of the Centrist Project is to help citizens connect with the bigger picture so that politicians who have both eyes open will have the opportunity to be elected. If you think you can connect with that mission, please sign up here.
