Being a Centrist means you are willing to compromise on your own personal convictions so that you can govern from the center of the political spectrum. Being a Centrist means that you will give up some of your desires while achieving other desires of yours in order to govern along with those who think differently than you.
Quite simply, I hold all my policy positions with conviction, but what I'm passionate about is forming a government that governs from the center, not from the left or right. Compromise is a good word, not a bad word. That's what I want to see from my government.
Ridding ourselves of gerrymandering would be ideal, but it is not a realistic possibility. Influencing our representatives to govern from the center is the next best option and is a realistic possibility. We need people who have their own personal convictions, but are willing to compromise on their personal convictions in order to govern from the center for the common good of the whole.
